said that the popularity of the film would have given society some implications. The fact that the film was so popular denotes the fact that as a society we all love the fairy tail genre not matter how old we are. Due to frozen being watched by a younger generation it would also lead to parents and siblings watching and enjoying the film themselves. Another reason why Frozen was so successful as sometimes people like to have a film that is easy to watch, you don't have to thinking about what is going on throughout the film in order to understand what the storyline is and why certain events have occurred. The typical storyline that occurs during fairy tail films is that the princess will fall in love and end up living happily ever after once overcoming many different problems, however during Frozen it is the love that the two sisters have for each other that overcomes the many different problems they face. This is also a good life lesson for children as it shows how you should also put family first no matter who else is around you and what they are doing for you. The fact that family love is the dominant theme throughout the film shows that the audiences watching the film feel like family is very important also. The musical element to Frozen would have also caused the popularity of the film to increase as the songs are all very catchy which then causes people to get the stuck in their heads. People may also hear the song before they have seen the film and they wont to know what the meaning behind the film is which then causes them to watch it. Having songs in films means there are more marketing opportunities for the film, the film will be more and more recognised as the songs will be playing on the radio, music channels and CDs that the children purchase. John Cawelti
One of the media theorists that I have done some research into is John Cawelti, The theories that he created focused on genre, he made the statement that film genres are a myth. If a certain genre is popular it is due to the value that the society has. The film frozen has been used as an example of this, the popularity of the film lead to it being placed at the fifth most popular film in the box office. John

Short of The Week
In order to do some background research into short films I watched many different ones on 'Short of the Week'. This is the only platform that I could think off in order to watch many different short films as they are no longer showed anywhere else like on TV or in the cinema. Although you can watch short films on youtube the short of the film only has professional short films uploaded onto it, also the website places all of the films into different categories which makes it a lot easier to find the type of film that you want to watch.

One of the first short films I watched was The Root of the Problem, this film showed me that due to only having a short amount of time to get a story line in every scene has to have a meaning to it, there was also not a massive amount of speech during the film explaining what is going on, the actions taken place throughout the film give a larger insight into what is occurring. As soon as the film starts the mise en scene and sound effects give an insight into the fact the film isn't going to be happy and upbeat.

Another short film that I have watched is 'Stop'. This is another example of how short films don't have a large amount of talking in them as the actions of what was occurring told the story of the short film rather than what the actors were saying. However due to the lighting it was hard to make out what was occurring a lot of the time which lead to me being unable to follow the storyline.

A2 Media
After completing my AS media course of a music magazine I am now going onto continue my media studies to A2 which consists completing three different task. One of these tasks is a short film which is the main task, I then have two ancillary tasks to complete which will be a film poster and a film review page from a magazine. There was the option to do a radio trailer for the short film however the other two tasks appealed to me a lot more, I also feel that the audience I am wanting to target will be more interested in a film poster and film review in a magazine rather than a radio interview.
I am going to be using this blog in order to publish all of the research I am going to be doing about my short film. I will also be documenting each step of the process towards having my finished short film.
