Which aspects of programs were useful?
The fact that I was able to share and look over other peoples work due to using online platforms like blogger, YouTube and Prezi were massively helpful, as well as synergy. The fact that I always have access to the internet whether it be on a phone or laptop meant that I always had access to the online platforms. Using apple products together e.g iPhone and mac made it even easier to get research pages and photos that had been taken shared across as sometimes importing large amounts of media can be time consuming. This also lead to the process of getting my media product uploaded to YouTube in order to share faster also.
Final Cut Pro: Although it took me some getting used to at first Final Cut Pro was very easy to use and did exactly what I wanted it to. I tried to use another program which is on an apple mac 'iMovie' however didn't understand how to use it, also their was a lot poorer quality in the editing standard.
Final Cut Pro easily allowed me to add and take away sound from clips, I also layer sounds on top of each other during one scene. Another feature that I was able to do easily was editing text, once I understood how to writing feature I was then able to get the text to enter and leave the screen simultaneously. This made it look like the thoughts were entering and leaving the screen as Hannah was thinking them.
My Philosophy:
One of the most annoying and time consuming things about using technology is waiting for the computer to respond to what you have asked it to do. If you have been on it for a long time or have asked it to do a serious of different things at once is often goes slow, or shows the loading sign which then means you can not do anything else until its finished.
Things I could have improved myself:
- I knew that I was going to be using Final Cut Pro so should have learnt how to use it before starting to edit.
- Plan things out on paper first as I did all of my work on a computer.
- Saved and sorted my editing progress on a memory stick or uploaded it to YouTube as I only have one progress video uploaded.
- Leave enough time for technological errors, like my short film uploading it to YouTube as it took a lot longer than I thought it would.
- I consistently used media throughout my coursework. May people planned out there story boards and call sheets on paper first however I did everything using technology as I found it easier. I was dependant on technology throughout my whole media coursework.
